If you decide you would like to move your posts from another website to here, these are some tips to help make that happen easily.
When you post your blogs from another site to here, you will notice there are options to select the date when a post publishes to your Our Salon blog. You will find this option at the bottom of the text editor where you paste your bog text.
We are suggesting folks use that function to 'back' date the moved blogs rather than have all your pasted blogs showing the current date. The original date of the post would work perfectly or another date of your choosing.
This accomplishes 2 things:
It gives your page here a look of maturity with the many back dates making it appear your blog has been around a long time (which it likely has been...just not here), and it also keeps the front 'recent posts' feed free for the newest posts by all members.
We are presently setting up a process to archive all published posts to an external source which would protect us from any possible server crashes or other ugliness that would cause any blogs not "backed up" to personal files to be lost. We will keep everyone informed as this process progresses, though we strongly encourage personal back-ups, and have added some instructions on how to do so HERE
thanks & glad to have you here!
Another great tip-thanks!
Thanks for the tip. I saved what I thought were my better efforts to my desk top without the dates, but it would not take long to associate dates with them and post date them here. Thanks for the opportunity.
